If you’re visting Waikiki and are looking for a nice place to stay, you may have read about the Royal Hawaiian Resort. It has a long history (it was founded back in 1927), but renovations in 2009 and 2011 have made sure that you also get the modern amenities and conveniences that any guest will want. The design of the place is stunning, while the service is always warm and friendly.
They’re a bit modest, but then you don’t really need too much space. There’s a separate bedroom with a living room, though there’s no full kitchen or a minibar. The room is nicely air-conditioned, though you can enjoy the night air or the morning breeze in the balcony. There’s Internet access with Wi-Fi even in public areas, and there’s cable TV too. Smokers will be relieved to know that smoking rooms are available.
Royal Hawaiian can arrange for transport to and from the hotel, a rental car service desk, and you can also take advantage of the concierge service. There are laundry and dry cleaning services for your clothes and room service if you want to stay in.
However, there are no pets allowed, and there aren’t any free breakfasts either.
The Royal Hawaiian Resort has a beauty salon, a business center with large meeting rooms for up to 400 guests, a fitness center, a spa with an award-winning treatment protocol, and a tennis court. However, there’s no casino, no game room or arcade, and you have to go somewhere else for golf.
It’s located right on the beach, so it’s quite convenient for beach lovers. But there’s also a pool with a Jacuzzi, and you can use the cabanas by the pool and enjoy the poolside drink service.
Children are welcome here, and the resort offers cribs and babysitting services for parents. There are also clubs for kids and children can enjoy various supervised activities.
Many of the rooms are downright gorgeous, and the service of the staff is suitably friendly and accommodating. You’ll get welcome leis and drinks, and during the day there are free activities such as hula lessons. You get turndown treats every night too.
For visitors, what’s also important here is its location. It’s on the beach, and it is near shops, restaurants, and nightlife spots. You don’t really need a rental car to enjoy the day. Beach lovers can enjoy surfing, and lots of teachers are available for newbies.
If you do rent or bring a car (you may pay up to $20 for parking each day), you can drive just 15 minutes to enjoy hiking in Diamond Head or snorkeling in Hanauma Bay. The hotel is also just 10 minutes away from the airport, so you don’t waste too much time of your vacation stuck in traffic.
The Royal Hawaiian is one of the few true luxury hotels in Waikiki. You may have to pay daily resort fees, but you get the full bang for your buck with the comfy rooms, amenities, very friendly service, and prime location.
